Aqua Pools Replaces Vinyl Liners
Aqua Pools installs replacement vinyl liners in both above ground and inground pools. Generally speaking, there are three types of inground pools: fiberglass, vinyl liner, and concrete (also referred to as gunite). Customers often ask what type of swimming pool is best and the truth is that each pool type has distinct advantages and disadvantages. Surface maintenance will be necessary no matter what type of surface you choose.
Life of the Liner
Vinyl liner pools have the lowest initial cost of any of the three types of inground pools. Most of the liners on inground and above ground pools will last around 7-12 years. The life of your vinyl liner depends on the average temperature of where you live and the chemical care you give to the pool. The average life of a vinyl pool liner is seven years, though some make it ten years or longer. If you live in a cooler climate where the pool is covered six months of the year, your liner may last twice as long as one in Texas where your pool is exposed to the sun twelve months out of the year. Additionally, you can extend the life of your liner with proper chemical care, by keeping the PH and chlorine levels in the appropriate range. Chemical care involves maintaining your pH and alkalinity levels, so the water does not become slightly acidic. Careful chlorine use will also help to protect a liner, by always pre-dissolving pool shock, and if you use chlorine tablets, adding them into a proper chlorine feeder.
Proper Liner Measurement
The measurement of your pool for a vinyl liner is critical and Aqua Pool has experts to ensure this is done with the utmost care. Aqua Pool takes eighty-five different measurements and sends them to the vinyl liner manufacturer, Merlin Industries. Based upon Aqua’s careful measurements, Merlin then constructs a three-dimensional computer aided design. Aqua works directly with Merlin to ensure this computer model represents the exact measurements of your pool. You may be tempted to purchase a “do it yourself” kit online for your vinyl liner replacement. Unfortunately, if you do not measure your pool properly, you may have gaps and/or bulges in your replacement liner, especially around steps and drains. The Merlin pool liners we use are custom-designed for your pool to provide the best possible fit and durability. Each liner is designed by computer and custom manufactured to accommodate steps, angles, objects and unique configurations. As varied as they are attractive, these Merlin liners Aqua Pools uses are available in both 27 mil and 20 mil thicknesses of 100% virgin vinyl. All of Merlin liners provide extra U.V. and antibacterial protection to look great and last a long time. The liners come in a nearly endless variety of designs and patterns, many made to look like stone or tile, and some with a texture that makes it easier to enter and exit your pool.
